On March 22nd, Buddy Streeper, winner of the GCI Open North American, stood by his truck of champion sled dogs and his trophies for winning the world’s premier open class race.Streeper met the City of Fairbanks Mayor, Steve Thompson, and members of the community outside the new GCI building on the Johansen Expressway. After posing for a few photos with the Mayor, Buddy let his dogs loose drop. The dogs were happy to be petted by the onlookers, who were equally thrilled to be petting world champions.Buddy signed copies of Mushing Magazine and handed out his card noting his tally of victories; a card he will have to update this year. Buddy won the Rondy in Anchorage, and many races across Canada and US.The meet and greet was also a chance for mushers and the public to thank GCI for backing the Open North American Championships as the main sponsor, and to show their support in GCI staying on as the main sponsor. With GCI supporting the race, the race has remained the most prestigious open class race in the world
