In this edition of the Musher Q & A we hear from Josh Daily, the owner of Redoubt Racing in Sterling Alaska. One day he dreams of mushing in the Iditarod and running in Sweden. Did you know, he is reading Jeff King’s Cold Hands Warm Heart, loves Any old Alan Jackson music, and always carries a Garmin InReach on his adventures.

My Best Advice For Young Mushers Is...

Spend time with mushers you look up to and ask as many questions as you can. I’ve learned so much from riding trails on the side by side with Sadie Lindquist from Mitch Seavey’s kennel, mushing the hills with Hugh Neff, and running the beach with the Osmars. This sport has such a depth of knowledge that you couldn’t possibly learn all there is in a lifetime.

Happiness Is...

Mushing by moonlight.

My Most Challenging Race/Expedition Was...

Getting into the unfrozen swamps this fall and having to keep the team calm as we had to turn around in waist deep water.

What Scares Me The Most Is...

Falling through the ice.

My Favorite Trail Meal Is...

PB&J

The True Gift Of Mushing Is...

Being a part of the history of Alaska.

One Thing I Will Never Do Again Is...

Cut a trail with a 90° turn a few feet from the yard.
