Teacher Traveling To Alaska For Special Assignment With Iditarod

“What’ve you learned about your musher?” asks Linda Fenton of her third grade students at Waupaca Learning Center.For several weeks in winter, the elementary students focus on the Iditarod — Alaska’s most well-known sporting event, challenging mushers, or athletes, and their team of dogs to race about 1,000 miles in the cold and snow to the finish line.”It’s got everything,” says Fenton of the topic’s popularity with children. “It’s got dogs, competition, north, adventure, everything that kids love.”Fenton’s curriculum on the Iditarod won her the title of the 2013 Teacher on the Trail and a five-week trip to Alaska.Read more here: http://www.wbay.com/story/21078412/2013/02/07/teacher-traveling-to-alaska-for-special-honor-with-iditarod
