The first day of the 65th running of the ONAC is in the can, and we have ourselves a dog race. As suspected the course was fast despite temperatures into the 40’s. Arleigh came out of the start chute like a shot from a circus cannon and led at every checkpoint at one point having a 38 second lead at about 3/4 of the way through. Arleigh took 18 dogs today, and is in a good position to manage/defend his lead. img::IMG_6013.jpgArleigh Reynolds rounds the corner for home at the bottom of the ADMA club grounds.img::times.pngDay 1 timesEllis tightened up the gap a bit in the last 1/4 of the race and trails by only 19 seconds going into day 2. Ken Chezik is in third position, with a strong, steady run. Jason Dunlap is in fourth. Although there were 4 teams who had to carry dogs, none of the front runners had to bag any.
