Heading into the 2013 Akiak Dash, Randy Nose of Akiachak didn’t have too hard of a time finding a reason to want to do well in the 65-mile sled dog race from Bethel to Akiak. Having a brother that won each of the two previous Akiak Dash races tends to make a sibling want to win a bit more.Nose can relax a bit now. The Dash title has been passed.A two-year veteran of the sled dog racing scene, 28 year old Nose turned in a solid effort on Saturday evening to collect his first Dash crown, and the third in a row by a member of his family. His older brother, Ray, won the Akiak Dash title in 2011 and 2012.Nose, running his brother’s championship Dash team from last year, had a little trouble at the mass start.
