Northeast Oregon Sled Dog Races Pit Mushers and Teams Against Mountains

Those who have witnessed it say nothing compares to the infectious and frenzied energy just before the start of a sled dog race.The raucous scene is pregnant with excitement as the dogs bark, howl and lurch with agonizing anticipation of the race ahead.“Take anybody who hasn’t gone before and they will have a smile on their face,” said Rick Katucki, a musher from Eagle. “You will be grinning ear to ear when you see how many people it takes to hold those dogs back.
