Mackey welcomed home

Lance Mackey was welcomed back to Fairbanks today by the community including the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce, and the North Star Borough. Lance won the Yukon Quest and Iditarod, and as was evidenced today, the hearts of Alaskans. Lance arrived 30 minutes late due to a flight delay after attending a celebration in Wasilla. The Fairbanks community gathered to hear Lance talk about his feat and his dogs, and then Lance signed Yukon Quest memorabilia and photos for 2 hours. Lance’s down-to-earth personality, and his personable manner has made him a favorite with mushing and sports fans alike. Not to be forgotten, Lance’s dogs Larry and Handsome, a son of Zorro, were available for pats and congratulations.
