Finnmarkslopet begins

The 1000 km and 500 km races through the northern regions of Norway are underway. The race has attracted 138 entrants, and this year the race has its own human doctor as well as race vets. Ten mushers are carrying GPS units and can be tracked at http://www.finnmarkslopet.no/article.jsp?id=1859Arne Karlstrom, a 14 time veteran of the race, is currently leading the 100 km race, ahead of Tore Bergby and Snorre Naess.Mona Kolstad is leading the 500 km race followed by Terje Hilmarsen and Elisabeth Edland.For full results visit http://www.finnmarkslopet.no/page.jsp?id=818&mid=266
