Vet Check Assures Dogs Are Ready For Quest Challenge

The warehouse at Summit Logistics resembled a canine assembly line Saturday, as a half-dozen veterinarians weighed, probed and prodded more than 100 dogs that will run in the Yukon Quest on Feb. 2.Saturday and today represent vet check weekend for the 1,000-mile Whitehorse-to-Fairbanks sled dog race, when teams of volunteer veterinarians on both sides of the border make sure the canine athletes are up to the challenge.Vets moved quickly Saturday, taking temperatures, examining teeth and testing the joints of each dog.Read more here: http://www.newsminer.com/sports/yukon_quest/article_e71f199e-685e-11e2-9a07-001a4bcf6878.html
