Nearly half the mushers in this year’s Yukon Quest are rookies, but that doesn’t mean they’re all newcomers to the epic 1,000-mile Whitehorse-to-Fairbanks sled dog race.Although 11 of the 26 entrants are classified as rookies in their Quest biographies, some of them have had an intimate look at the trail they’ll be racing for the first time.Take Susie Rogan, a 46-year-old Whitehorse resident who wanted to take the opportunity to run the Quest while she had dogs near their prime.
