Fairbanks kicked off its race season as the Two Rivers Dog Mushers Association (TRDMA) had the Solstice 50 miler. The trail left from the Pleasant Valley Store and was a hilly course. 28 teams competed, and 28 teams finished.Matt Hall won the race in four hours, 16 minutes and 31 seconds with 12 dogs and no dogs dropped. Matt recently won the Alpine Creek Excursions, a 60 miler on the Denali Highway.Ryne Olson finished second with 12 dogs and a time of 4:24:20.Emilie Entrikin finished in third place with 8 dogs with a time of 4:30:59. Aily Zirkle shortly followed in fourth place with 12 dogs at 4:31:09. Chris Parker was fifth with 12 dogs and a time of 4:31:30.
