Rideau Cup Sled Dog and Skijoring Races Postponed Due to Insufficient Snow

EMC News – “It is very disappointing that this event has to be cancelled for Jan. 14,” stated Martin Rennick, Race Marshall, “however, it would be unwise to allow these athletes and their dog teams to run on the trail with insufficient snow on the ground.” The unseasonably warm weather predicted for this week and minimal snow fall has led volunteer organizers to make the decision to cancel the Rideau Cup Sled Dog and Skijoring races. Chair Brian Patterson also announced the volunteer training planned for Wednesday at the Newboro Hall will not be held. “We hope to run on an alternate date – Feb. 25. In that light, the volunteer training will take place on Feb. 22, 7 p.m., in the Newboro Hall.”Read more here: http://www.emcperth.ca/20120112/news/Rideau+Cup+Sled+Dog+and+Skijoring+Races+postponed+due+to+insufficient+snow
