With the end of the racing season in most areas drawing to a close, we still have a few races on the cards. The Tok Race of Champions is this coming weekend and marks the end of the Alaskan sprint racing circuit. Mushers will race in the 6, 8 and open class events before driving home, which may be as far away as eastern USA, Canada and Germany. The Kobuk 440 will be one of the many village races in Alaska for the distance mushers. This is a race popular with Iditarod mushers, and for many, the last hurrah. For those not able to make it to the Kobuk, John Schandelmeier and Zoya DeNure have started their own 300 mile race in the Paxson area. With the abundant snow and beautiful weather, it seems sad to let the conditions go to waste. There are other races around the state, so don’t hang up your harnesses just yet!See you on the trails!!
