Ken Anderson will most likely be the first musher to wait out a penalty he earned back at Chena Hot Springs. Anderson, along with four others, failed to check out of the checkpoint, earning him a two-hour mandatory penalty according to race rules. He will have to stay a total of six hours at Eagle Checkpoint, instead of Eagle’s mandatory four-hour layover. Julie Estey, Bill Pinkham and Kyla Boivin will also serve an extra two hours at Eagle. Paul Geoffrion, who scratched at Mile 101, was the fifth musher who failed to sign out at Chena Hot Springs.
