Northern Exposure: Godfrey Students Learn About Alaska

While it may be warm outside here, the students of Evangelical Elementary School in Godfrey have been learning about the culture in a place much colder all year round – Alaska.Ann Hamilton, the school’s librarian, has been coordinating the Books to the Trail project with the school for the last five years. And each year, she has brought something new to the project.After taking a trip to Alaska last summer, Hamilton decided to try to do everything the program has to offer, which included holding a book fair; learning about the culture and history of Alaska; following the Iditarod – a 1,000-mile dog sled race from Anchorage to Nome in Alaska; and becoming acquainted with the students of McGrath School in McGrath, Alaska.Read more here: http://www.thetelegraph.com/articles/students-67991-school-mcgrath.html
