The first weekend of March, West Prairie Middle School special education teacher Mary McMahon was surrounded by sled dogs, snow and freezing temperatures while her fifth- and sixth-grade students enjoyed sunshine and unseasonably warm weather.McMahon recently returned from Anchorage, Alaska, where she participated in the Iditarod Teachers Conference that is held annually in conjunction with the start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, a 975-mile race that traces the Iditarod National Historic Trail from Anchorage to Nome.Read more here: http://www.mcdonoughvoice.com/newsnow/x1612631089/Mush-WP-teacher-goes-to-the-Iditarod
