Mac Native’s Son Finished Fifth in Iditarod

Although Tuesday marked the official end of winter, one McPherson resident’s thoughts still lingered on snowy, bone-chilling weather and the opportunities it provides for her family.Lisa Crough’s nephew, 24-year-old Pete Kaiser, of Bethel, Alaska, recently finished in fifth place in the Iditarod, a dog sled race of more than 1,000 miles from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. The finish awarded him a prize of $36,000 and a four-wheeler.This was his third time running the race, jumping from eighth place in 2011 and 27th in his first attempt in 2010.
