DAWSON CITY, YUKON (February 13, 2008) – Rookie favourite Julie Estey has scratched at Slaven’s Cabin Dog Drop. Estey, 34, of Fairbanks, AK, suffered a knee injury and is unable to continue, Race Marshal Doug Grilliot said this evening from Dawson City. She made the decision late this afternoon based on the seriousness of her injury. She called in her decision to Race Officials stationed 101 miles (163 kilometres) up the trail at Eagle Checkpoint. Estey checked in to Slaven’s Cabin on Tuesday at 6:29 p.m. and dropped five dogs.
