In exchange for 100 pounds of outdated hamburger, the then-struggling young musher acquired Hickory, a feisty brown puppy whose best friend was a cat and who learned how to run while balancing himself on the gangline like a tightrope walker.”Hickory was one of my favorite and most spectacular leaders that I could steer like a car around obstacles,” said King from his home in Denali National Park, where he has run dogs for nearly 35 years.Read more here:
