IFSS (International Federation of Sleddog Sports) will be holding its World Championships (WCh) 2009 in North America. The final decision as to the exact location will be made in January or February, 2008.In order to compete in the 2009 IFSS World Championships, certain “pre-qualifying” criteria must be met:€ Only those teams which have competed in an IFSS accredited race of at least two heats in the class in which they wish to enter the WCh in the previous race season or up to 30 days before the WCh may compete in the WCh.€ World Cup winners (the first three from each of IFSS’s 9 regions) are pre-selected and are eligible to compete in the following year’s WCh, provided they meet criteria above.€ The first three finishers in the previous WCh (Sweden ’07 for the Sprint and Nordic classes, Italy ’07 for the Mid-Distance classes) are automatically pre-selected for the 2009 WCh.Anyone wishing to compete in the WCh who does not meet the above criteria must submit an application to the IFSS Council to waive the rules. Application shall include a $200 fee to IFSS. Member national federations may have additional requirements for national team selections for IFSS World Championships. Please contact your national federation for further information.Applications for 2007-2008 IFSS World Cup accreditation are available from IFSS Secretary General Sally O’Sullivan Bair (tel: 218 525 4012, email: sbair@cpinternat.com).
