Iditarod 2012: Meet The Mushers

The grandson of Iditarod founder Joe Redington Sr. will be the first musher on the trail this year. Ray Redington, Jr., 36, will get started at 10:02 a.m. Saturday in the ceremonial start beginning in downtown Anchorage. Heading into his 11th Iditarod, Redington is coming off his best-ever finish of seventh last year.Another Joe Redington Sr. grandson, Ryan Redington, a four-time finisher, will be the last musher to start. In between are six former champions, including defending champ and record-holder John Baker, and Rick Swenson, 61, the winningest musher in race history with five titles.Cable television subscribers can see the start on GCI Channel 1, simulcast on the Alaskan Rural Communication Service.
