Gold Run Gets Under Way at Mushers Hall

After struggling through the preliminary season battling poor trail conditions and cold temperatures, the Alaska Dog Mushers Association championship season got under way in near perfect conditions Saturday at the Jeff Studdert Racegrounds.With temperatures in the teens, plenty of snow and bright sunshine bathing the trails, 22 dogs teams and four skijoring teams hit the trails on the first day of the Annamaet Pet Foods/Sled Dog Studio Gold Run.Conditions for today’s second heat, which starts with skijoring at 11 a.m., should be about the same setting up an exciting day of racing.Read more: http://newsminer.com/view/full_story/17585420/article-Gold-Run-gets-under-way-at-Mushers-Hall–Hollingworth-leads-in-10-dog-race?instance=home_sports_lead_story
