Alaska’s version of March Madness officially ended at 1:10 p.m. EDT Saturday for Matt Failor when he and his team of 14 dogs completed the 1,049-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.The Mansfield musher and his dogs crossed the finish line in Nome in 48th place after officially being on the wilderness trail for 12 days, 18 hours and 10 minutes. Sixty-six mushers began the race, with 13 dropping out and five still on the trail when Failor finished.Waiting for Failor at the finish line were his parents, Tim and Cheryl. Tim is the athletic director at St. Peter’s High School.
