Alaska Driving Tour Provides Fantastic Winter Vacation for South Floridians

PORT ST. LUCIE — Fairbanks, Alaska, is similar to Key West — at 20 below zero. During the annual North American Championship dog-sled races, Fairbanks is full of unusual characters: miners, mushers, Indians, Eskimos, Asian tourists, and one South Floridian who wanted to see the northern lights so badly that he convinced his wife to share a winter driving tour that covered more than 1,100 miles, including many ice- and snow-covered roadways, a gravel stretch, and two-lane mountain routes with center lines covered by snow with no shoulders and no guardrails — during a snowfall.Read more here: http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2012/apr/03/alaska-driving-tour-provides-fantastic-winter-vaca/
