The turnout to the first night of the premiere sled dog symposium was above normal. Whether the snow falling had put everyone in the mood, or the curiosity about the new gear available, or maybe it was the chance to see everyone you know in one room at the same time. Whatever the reason, the Civic Center at Pioneer Park was a-buzz with excitement and predictions for the future season. This weekend will bring some great speakers to Fairbanks including perennial favorite Wes Rau, who had a large crowd listing to his pre-training check-up methods for your canine athlete. With the Yukon Quest Birthday Party happening out in the main room, it was great to see so many people drag themselves away from the party to learn from one of the best dog physiotherapists. The Sympsium continues all weekend with great talks by professionals and amatures. With education mind it is the place to be to get up to date on new techniques and scientific findings.
