Eden Valley Woman Savors Volunteering For Sled Dog Race

Nearly 120 miles north of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon’s chaotic start lies a wilderness checkpoint where the spirit of the race reveals itself in silent campfire smoke and pine siskins’ song.Far removed from the poster-signing, cute-puppy-contest trappings that draw thousands of spectators to Duluth, Sawbill is where Eden Valley volunteer Rosie Court plans to pitch her summer tent and await the two-hour warning call from the town of Finland.“It’s got the yin and yang of life,” Court said. “The silence, the chaos. It’s rewarding, it’s challenging.
