Race Is A Fitting Tribute To Musher

The common definition of “Unalakleet” is “the place where the east wind blows.” It certainly blows from the east there — 20 mph is considered calm.However, the true meaning of Unalakleet is an adaptation of an Inupiat word defined as “from the south side.”Whatever the meaning, dog mushers from around Alaska gathered there on a windy Wednesday afternoon recently for the start of the inaugural running of the Paul Johnson 450.Read more here: http://www.adn.com/2012/02/20/2327948/race-is-a-fitting-tribute-to-musher.html
